In Britain today there is a process of indoctrination going on in which certain ideas are taboo while others are required thinking to be accepted by those in a position to influence, educate and shape opinion. What is interesting is that the taboos and the required thinking are almost exactly the opposite of what they were 50 years ago.
Here are some views you should not hold in public life today:
- In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth.
- There is one God and one mediator between God and humanity – Jesus Christ.
- Sexual relations are sanctioned by God only within marriage between a man and a woman.
- Homosexual practice is unnatural and contrary to God’s order.
- Children should be protected from early sexualisation.
Here are some views you should hold:
- Evolution is a proven fact and the only possible explanation of how we come to be here.
- All (or no) roads lead to God (although there probably is no God).
- It does not matter what God says in the Bible. Any sexual relationship is acceptable and any attempt to say it is not is illegal discrimination.
- Homosexuality is a normal life style choice and to say there is anything wrong with it is to be guilty of homophobia.
- Children from the earliest age need to be indoctrinated with sex education with no moral content.
As a result of all this Christians who hold traditional views of God, salvation and sexual morality are finding themselves on the wrong side of the fence socially, politically and now even legally. Christians have been shocked by the verdict of Lord Justice Munby and Mr Justice Beatson in the case of Owen and Eunice Johns who were told that they could not be foster carers because of their view that homosexuality is wrong.
The judges said, ‘Although historically this country is part of the Christian West, and although it has an established church which is Christian, there have been enormous changes in the social and religious life of our country over the last century.’ They concluded that Britain is a ‘largely secular’, multi-cultural country in which the laws of the realm ‘do not include Christianity.’ When fostering regulations were taken into account, ‘the equality provisions concerning sexual orientation should take precedence’ over religious rights, they said.
The couple said they felt excluded for holding ‘normal, mainstream, Christian views.’ They were simply not willing to tell a small child that the practice of homosexuality was a good thing. During the case, the Equality and Human Rights Commission, an official watchdog, suggested that the couple could attend a ‘re-education’ programme, according to Mrs Johns. They were told ‘You would have to tell the child it is all right to be homosexual because there are too many children that are confused with their sexuality.’ A spokesperson for the Equality Commission warned that children could be ‘infected’ by the moral views of Christian foster parents who oppose homosexual behaviour. (She did subsequently apologise for the remark, but it shows the spirit operating within the organisation).
This case highlights the growing discrimination against Christians by the legal system in ‘equality’ cases. The offer by the Equality Commission of a ‘Re-education programme’ to Mr and Mrs Johns sounds like something from the Soviet Communist era. What very few people realise is that there has been a consistent programme of ‘re-education’ of people taking place throughout the Western World since the 1960s. Left wing and liberal humanists have been engaged in a cultural war aiming at overturning Western society by subverting its culture and morality. In her book ‘Londonistan’ Error! Contact not defined. wrote: ‘Instead of mobilising the working class to take over the world, the revolution would be achieved through a culture war, in which the moral beliefs of the majority would be replaced by the values of those on the margins of society. And this would be brought about by capturing all of society’s institutions – schools, universities, the media, the legal profession, the police, voluntary groups – and making sure that this intellectual elite all sang from the same subversive hymn sheet.’ (Page 124).
Now we have a situation where schools are encouraged to teach the most explicit sexual material to children as young as five but it is virtually illegal to tell young children that homosexual practice is harmful. An article in the Daily Mail (9/3/11) shows just how far some of this material goes. ‘The Primary School Sex and Relationship Pack’ by HIT UK, includes material to allow children aged 5 to 11 to learn about different sexual positions, anal intercourse, oral sex and prostitution. Norman Wells of the Family Education Trust said the use of explicit teaching tools eroded ‘traditional moral standards.’
Another aspect of this issue is the way the police service has become increasingly active in pursuing ‘hate crimes.’ Most Christians would not want to think of themselves as people who might be guilty of a ‘hate crime’ since Jesus taught us to love God and love our neighbour. However it is becoming clear that a ‘hate crime’ can include expressing a view that for example homosexual practice is harmful or expressing a criticism or even disagreement with Islamic teaching or practice.
West Midlands Police and the Association of Chief Police Officers have joined forces to launch a controversial new website which aims to increase the reporting of so-called ‘hate crimes’. Christians who have been unfairly targeted for such prosecutions in recent years. The controversial website will allow people to report perceived ‘hate crimes’ online.
According to the website a hate crime is any crime which is ‘targeted at a person because of hostility or prejudice’ towards their sexual orientation, transsexual identity, belief, race or disability. Chief Inspector Mike Slemensek of Warwickshire Police’s equality, diversity and human rights unit said: ‘It will help encourage local people to report hate crimes – which are those crimes perceived by the victim or any other person as being motivated by prejudice or hate.’
A report by the Civitas think-tank, entitled A New Inquisition: Religious Persecution in Britain Today, warns that existing hate crime legislation poses a danger to freedom of speech. Jon Gower Davies, the report’s author, said: ‘Some police forces and the CPS [Crown Prosecution Service] seem to be interpreting statutes in favour of ethnic and religious minorities and in a spirit hostile to members of the majority population, defined as ‘White’ or ‘Christian’.’
Many of the prosecutions have been for causing ‘religiously aggravated intentional harassment, alarm or distress’ under the Public Order Act. The report cites the example of Ben and Sharon Vogelenzang who were prosecuted for a hate crime, under Section 5 of the Public Order Act, last year after they engaged in a breakfast debate about Islam. The couple, who were supported by The Christian Institute, were declared innocent last December but the ordeal has caused the couple serious financial hardship. By contrast the report also cites the example of a Muslim man who escaped prosecution for a hate crime despite defacing a war memorial with slogans such as ‘Islam will dominate the world – Osama is on his way’. The CPS ruled that the man’s actions were not ‘racially’ or ‘religiously’ aggravated, and he was instead charged with a lesser crime of criminal damage.
Mr Davies, former Head of Religious Studies at Newcastle University, said: ‘The British people might be forgiven for thinking that their basic religious-cultural inheritance, the culture under which we have grown up, is not just out of control but under some insidious attack.’ (Information from The Christian Institute).
If the learned judges who passed sentence in the Johns’ case are ‘laying down the law’ by saying that homosexual rights trump Christian rights and the laws of the realm ‘do not include Christianity’, then we have reached a sorry state. Will the next move be to outlaw any criticism of such decisions and of the homosexual agenda? In which case articles like this may be banned. God’s judgement is waiting to fall on Britain and the western world as we abandon His laws and His salvation in favour of a ‘liberal’ agenda which is in reality becoming more like a dictatorship.
All of this ties in with the prophecies of the Bible that in the last days it would be ‘as in the days of Lot’ (Sodom and Gomorrah) when aggressive homosexuality imposed itself on the rest of society.
